The Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, today entered into agreement with Chakra Seeds Kurnool (AP) and Friends Agro Industry, Malerkotla for commercialization of PMH-1 (Maize hybrid) and PAU Super SMS Technology, respectively.
The MoA was signed by M. Ganesh Kumar Reddy and Nirbhai Singh for their respective firms while Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director Research, PAU, signed the pact on behalf of the university.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, Additional Director of Research and Dr. T.S. Dhillon, Director Seeds, PAU was present at the occasion. Dr. S.S. Chahal, Adjunct Professor, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell informed that PAU has signed 141 MoAs and commercialized 38 technologies including hybrid lines of mustard, chilli, brinjal, bio-fertilizers, leaf colour chart, water testing kit, PAU Happy Seeder technology and many others.
Mr Reddy informed that PMH -1 has good scope in Andhra Pradesh and adjoining states for seed marketing. Dr. J.S. Chawla, Senior Maize Breeder, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics informed that PMH-1 is high yielding single cross maize hybrid recommended for irrigated conditions.
Dr Manjeet Singh, Head, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering shared that the “PAU Super SMS” attachment is becoming popular with a large number of farmers because of its use with combine harvesters for cutting, chopping and uniformly spreading loose straw while harvesting paddy.
