The Odisha government said it planned to increase area under horticulture crops by 50 percent in next five years.

Under controlled cultivation raising of horticulture crops is being given a push even as during the current financial year the district has been allotted Rs.2.62 crore for being extended as subsidy to horticulture farmers under the National Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture.
The three-day State-level horticulture fair was commence from 19th December at University of Horticulture Sciences-Bagalkot and the fair was inaugurated by Mallanna Nagral, who is a progressive farmer.
