Total geographical area in India, under agriculture was 328.73 million hectares in 2010-11. Land under cultivation from total agriculture land was about 141.58 million hectares. Other uncultivated area including uncultivable waste land is 26.17 million hectares. Agriculture land that is not available for cultivation was 34% in 1950-51. Percentage Share of Area to Gross Cropped Area of wheat and sugarcane increased during the period of 2005-2011. Percentage share of wheat and sugarcane in 2005-06 was 0.85 and 2.41; whereas in 2010-11 it was 14.99 and 2.66 viz. There is slight increase in Area and Production of Horticulture fruits. Total area under horticulture fruit increased from 6705000 hectares in 2011-12 to 7012000 hectares in 2012-13. Simultaneously, horticulture fruit production increased from 76424000 tonnes in 2011-12 to 79400000 tonnes in 2012-13. This rise is also seen in vegetable and tree nuts production. From the above mentioned data we can expect more production and export of horticulture crop and processed food production.
