The PAU KIsan App was launched by the Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of PAU Sh VP SIngh Badnore during the Kisan Mela.
The App has been introduced by the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, to address the queries of the farmers, equip them with the knowledge about new crop varieties and their production and protection technologies, and provide weather based and other agriculture related advisories from time to time.
Presently, the farmers can download the App on Android phones and it will be soon made available on Apple iphones.
Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, appreciated the efforts of the Directorate and Extension Education and called upon the farmers to remain in contact with PAU experts through this App. By evening, more than 200 farmers had downloaded the App on their Android phones.
Meanwhile, a publication on paddy straw management by industrious farmers of Punjab was also released on the occasion. It covers success stories of 40 farmers who have shun the practice of residue burning in the field and are managing it using suitable machinery.
The publication also throws light on the villages, which have been adopted by PAU and have shown significant improvement be it social, economic or agricultural.
