Odisha targets to provide Rs.1000 agriculture term loan
The Odisha government has targeted to provide Rs 1,000 crore agriculture term loan to farmers this year, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said. Inaugurating an awareness campaign ”cooperative at your door step”, the chief minister said the main objective of the campaign is to sensitise people about various cooperative programmes and how to avail loan without any hassle.
Mr Patnaik said agriculture loan is provided to the farmers at one per cent interest and 65 per cent of the total agriculture loan is being provided though Cooperative Societies.
The conditions for providing term loan to farmers has been relaxed and target has been fixed to provide Rs, 1000 crore term loan to farmers this year. The chief minister directed the officials to see that more and more farmers who have not availed agriculture loan are covered under the Fasal Bima Yojana.
The chief minister said an MoU has been signed between the NABARD and the state Cooperative Bank to constitute Joint Liability Group to provide loan to small farmers under the programme.
Mr Patnaik asked each Primary Cooperative Society to constitute at least ten Joint Liability Groups for the purpose.
The chief minister directed the Cooperative department and the District Collectors to ensure that various schemes launched by the state government for the farmers reached them.
