In Tamil Nadu, the Agriculture Engineering Department has sanctioned Rs. 24.75 lakh as subsidy to farmers of the district for purchasing tractors. This would give relief to the farmers as they were facing acute shortage of labours.
A subsidy of Rs. 1 lakh each for purchasing six tractors with 20 horsepower capacity would be provided to farmers falling under Adi Dravidar category, Collector S. Palanisamy said.
For purchasing 14 farm tractors up to 70 horsepower capacity, a subsidy of Rs. 1.25 lakh would be provided to 14 beneficiaries belonging to Adi Dravidar community.
The farmers who are falling under general category, a subsidy of Rs. 1.25 lakh would be provided to them.
