Jalandhar: At the Centre of Excellence for Vegetable, Kartarpur a two-day seminar and cross cluster vegetable workshop
was organised – an Indo-Israel project established by the Department of Horticulture.
Vegetable experts from the Government of Israel, namely Shelly Gantz, Itzhak Esquira participated in this seminar. From across
the country, Don Alluf, councillor, agriculture cooperation, Embassy of Israel, and delegates also took part in the workshop.
To discuss various agricultural techniques regarding protected cultivation for adoption in Punjab to increase profit of
farmers, especially for small and marginal farmers, was the main aim of the seminar, explained by Gurkanwal Singh,
Director, Horticulture, Punjab.
He also urged farmers to gain more profit by farmers, to adopt minimum 1,000 sq metres (two kanal) unit of small polyhouse,
a cluster or cooperative approach for marketing of vegetables.
The Director, Horticulture, Punjab said that, young farmers must come forward to adopt greenhouse techniques.
