Ahmedabad: Now Gujarat is planning for 'Ease of Doing Agriculture' policy. The main idea and aim of this policy is to
address the issues faced by the farmers and develop an integrated framework to make agriculture a much easier.
Sanjay Prasad is the principal secretary, agriculture and co-operation department, government of Gujarat. He said, "As the World
Bank has come out with 'Ease of Doing Business' index for the Indian states, Gujarat government is working on a policy for ease
of doing agriculture."
The policy is likely to be announced over the next two-three months. The Gujarat state intends to integrate different
government initiatives and development schemes for the benefit of farmers as part of the policy.
Gujarat government has started a portal called I-Khedut to provide farmers with timely information about market prices,
government schemes etc. There is a government of India App which provides market prices of farm produces and information
about agriculture input and fertilizers. All such initiatives will be integrated into one platform so that farmers can do
their agriculture activities with much ease.
Prasad said, "The government is working with agriculture universities, co-operatives and farmer institutions to develop
parameters and identify issues to make agriculture easier." According to World Bank rankings released last September, Gujarat
had topped the first ease of doing business.
