A training programme on Celery Cultivation in collaboration with Spice Board of India, Chandigarh organized by Krishi

During this occasion, Dr. John Jo Varghese, Scientist-C from Spices Board of India, Barabanki, U.P, India and Ms. Mujeera
K.M, Agriculture Demonstrator from Spices Board of India, Chandigarh were present.
Dr. John informed to the audience about about various activities carried out by their centre in production and export of
Spices.
The information about "The characteristics and yield potential of different varieties of Celery" was shared by expert from
PAU, Ludhiana Dr. Dharminder Pathak, Plant Breeder, Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics.
Also the recommended package of practices for successful cultivation of Celery are shared by Dr. Amandeep Singh Brar,
Assistant Extension Specialist, Agronomy, Department of Agronomy, PAU, Ludhiana.
Dr. Buta Singh Dhillon, Assistant Agronomist, Department of Agronomy, PAU, Ludhiana told the farmers to follow proper
spraying techniques for control of weeds in different crops. The views about different marketing techniques and export
potential of Celery are shared by Dr. Narinderpal Singh, SM, FASC, Amritsar.
The KVK activities are eloborated by Dr. Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, Associate Director, KVK Amritsar. He also said that KVK
Amritsar is committed to vocational trainings, transfer of technologies, on farm research and act as knowledge resource centre
for the district farmers. He also emphasizes the farmers to follow and adopt new techniques developed by PAU, Ludhiana.
The control of weeds in different Rabi crops especially Wheat by following improved technology, was discussed by Dr.
Raminder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Crop Production, KVK, Amritsar.
