Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) - SSEPERS (Support to State Extension program for Extension Reform Scheme)
organised an awareness programme on ‘Integrated crop management – pulses’ at Velidupatti near Vilathikulam on 29th June 2016.
Balasingh, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Vilathikulam spoke on farming practices and Ilamathi, Professor and Head,
Agriculture Research Station, Kovilpatti, spoke on pulses cropping and its management for farmers.
The precautionary measures to be followed during the application of pesticides and the negative impacts due to mishandling,
are explained by Murugan who is from mobile medical team on safety usage and handling of pesticides.
The legal aspects involved in pesticides purchase and effective usage of pesticides at field level are highlighted by Balamurugan,
who is the Agricultural Officer, Vilathuikulam and the upcoming farmer schemes and their subsidies are explained by Muthusamy,
Deputy Agricultural Officer. Farmers and pesticide shop owners from Vilathikulam block participated.
Govindharaj, Block Technology Manager, Nithya, Assistant Technology Manager, Saranya and Arulprakash, Assistant Agricultural
Officers, from Vilathikulam block, are coordinated the programme.
