Punjab State Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that Government would implement the
“Interest-free crop loan” scheme for farmers. He announced this while distributing development
grants worth Rs 83 lakh in State.
Government would provide interest-free crop loan of Rs 50 thousand on each crop to the farmers to
give an easy hand to farmers for crop production. It will help to bail out the farming community from
agrarian crisis.
The loan would be available twice a year according to the crop pattern in the state. The other major
features of the scheme includes easy return of loan in instalments after the procurement of crops as
per the season.
