Mobile apps are helping the farmers and making farming easy and manageable. Thanks to the
services provided by Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Union Ministry of Agriculture, some private companies
and agricultural universities.
Kisan Call Centre: The Union Ministry of Agriculture has a Kisan call centre under Indian Farmers
Fertiliser Cooperative Limited. When a farmer calls from Karnataka about the issues related to
agriculture, the call is answered in Kannada. Is someone calls from any other state, the answer
will get in that state's local language. The answer is followed by a message in the local language
with details.
Farmers.gov.in: Similarly, there is a website - farmers.gov.in where farmers can post a query and
get a detailed answer.
This is followed by an SMS to their number in the local language. The system can send messages to
on one lakh mobiles in 20 minutes.
Dr P Chandrashekara, Director of Agricultural Extension, National Institute of Agricultural
Extension Management in Hyderabad, said, “If the question cannot be answered at that level then it
goes to specialists and super specialists who answer the questions.
E sap: If farmers want to know about pests and disease control measures, E sap provides a solution.
It gives information on GPS and diseases about twelve crops such as paddy, cotton, red gram/tur,
pigeon pea and green peas.
Agri App:This app has been developed by Criyagen company. Farmers in remote areas can send their
query through the messages by using this app and immediate solution is provided them.
