Introduction

Providing balanced fertilizers to Enhance Productivity of Tomato crop

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd., (RCF) is a premier public sector undertaking engaged in the manufacture and marketing of fertilizers. The Company has two manufacturing facilities located at Mumbai and Thal (Dist. Raigad) in Maharashtra. These incorporate state of the art technology to produce quality products.

Urea, which is the most popular source of nitrogen, is RCF's major product. The company has a total capacity to manufacture 19.14 lacs. MTs.of Ujjwala (urea) per annum. Approximately one out of eight bags sold in the country bears RCF's "Ujjwala" brand. This is widely used for virtually all crops and soils.

In line with its corporate philosophy of providing balanced fertilizers to enhance agriculture productivity of the country. RCF's unit at Mumbai manufactures two grades of NPK/NP complexes branded as "Suphala 15:15:15" and "Suphala 20:20:20". The company has capacity to produce and market 3 lacs. MTs.of Suphala 15:15:15 and 3.6 lacs. MTs of Suphala 20:20:0.

With the introduction of high yielding varieties and continuous cropping system, the soils are getting depleted in essential plant nutrients particularly micro nutrients mainly zinc, copper, iron, manganese, boron and molybdenum. To supply these nutrients for increasing crop production out R & D has developed liquid micro nutrient fertilizer-Microla. The production plant capacity of microla plant is one lakh litre per annum.

There are phosphorus solubilizing bacteria, which on inoculation can convert native unavailable soil phosphorus to soluble form and thus make it available to the growing crop plants. Thus the Biosystem in rooting medium has great potential in increasing the crop production at a minimum cost. These can be used for seed, soil or for the process of composting. The trade name of PSB is Biola. The production plant capacity of Biola (PSB) is 150 MT/annum.
