Amsterdam, Netherlands – November 3, 2025: Source.ag, the Amsterdam-based developer of AI software for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), announced the close of its $17.5 million Series B funding round. The investment, led by Astanor Ventures with participation from Enza Zaden and Harvest House, brings Source.ag’s total funding to over $60 million.

The funding highlights the growing importance of applied AI in addressing challenges in global fresh produce supply and the shortage of skilled growers. Source.ag’s platform helps producers optimize yield and efficiency in greenhouses spanning 2,500 hectares across 18 countries, supporting food production for more than 40 million people daily.

Applied AI for Real-World Impact

While much of the tech world focuses on conceptual AI, Source.ag delivers measurable, real-world results for growers. Its software digitizes grower knowledge, predicts yields with higher accuracy, and automates irrigation and climate control. The platform acts as an AI co-pilot to help growers make data-driven decisions, boosting productivity and quality across the value chain.

Leadership Insights

Rien Kamman, CEO and Co-founder of Source.ag, said: “This Series B round confirms the industry's belief in our vision that sustainable food production requires close collaboration between AI developers and growers. Our mission is to help feed the world with sufficient fruits and vegetables through practical, scalable AI solutions.”

Hendrik Van Asbroeck, Managing Partner at Astanor, added: “Controlled Environment Agriculture is essential for sustainable food systems, and AI is the key enabler. Source.ag has proven how technology can transform theory into practice, delivering tangible value for growers worldwide.”

Jaap Mazereeuw, CEO of Enza Zaden, said: “By partnering with Source.ag, we integrate advanced data layers into seed breeding to minimize grower risk and unlock the full potential of our innovative varieties.”

Jelte van Kammen of Harvest House noted: “Our growers experience Source.ag’s value daily—from saving labor to improving forecasting. This partnership secures our cooperative’s sustainability and strengthens our data-driven growth strategy.”

Scaling the Future of Horticulture

The funds will accelerate global expansion and product development as Source.ag continues to build its AI product suite for horticulture. Its technology combines greenhouse data, plant physiology, and AI to deliver predictive and autonomous growing systems that improve yields and resource use while reducing emissions.
