FACTAMFOS
20-20-0-15 (Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate) is a chemical blend of 60 %
ammonium sulphate and 40 % ammonium phosphate. According to the grade,
Factamfos
20-20-0-15 contains 20% of nitrogen (N) in
ammonical form (NH4), 20% phosphoric acid
(P2O5) in water soluble form (H2PO4) and
15% sulphur (S) in sulphate form (SO4).
Factamfos 20-20-0-15 does not contain
potassium (K). It is therefore classified as
an NP complex fertiliser. But it can be rightly
called an NPS complex fertiliser because
it contains as much as 15% Sulphur (S),
which is now recognised as the fourth
major plant nutrient after N, P and K.
The salient features of Factamfos 20-20-0-15 may be summed up as follows:
- Factamfos
20-20-0-15 can be effectively used for all crops under all types
of soil conditions.
- Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Sulphur in Factamfos 20-20-0-15 are in available form and readily taken by the plants.
- The 1:1 ratio of Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Factamfos 20-20-0-15 is considered to be ideal for basal application for all soil types and for majority of field crops.
- Nitrogen in Factamfos 20-20-0-15 being present in the ammoniacal form (NH4), is less subject to denitrification and leaching losses are minimum

About 85% to 95% of Phosphorus in Factamfos 20-20-0-15 is in watersoluble form (H2PO4) which has better mobility and easy penetrability and increased absorption by plants.
- Being granular fertiliser, there is less contact between soil and fertiliser particles due to which fixation of watersoluble phosphorus in Factamfos 20-20-0-15 is reduced.
- Factamfos
20-20-0-15 contains 15% Sulphur in
plant-usable sulphate (SO4) form and sulphur is now gaining importance as the fourth major plant nutrient after
N, P and K. - Being
non-hygroscopic and free-flowing, storage and
handling are easy without any problem. - Being
granular and free-flowing, Factamfos 20-20-0-15
is well suited for broadcast application and placement application by means of fertiliser drill. - Being granular, there is no loss by dusting and by wind action.
- Factamfos 20-20-0-15 can be used both under rainfed and irrigated conditions.
- It can be used as basal dressing, top dressing and as well as foliar application since N, P and S nutrients in Factamfos 20-20-0-15 are in highly water soluble form and in readily available form.
- It is found suitable for acidic, alkaline and calcareous soils.
- Being a high analysis complex fertiliser, transportation storage and application costs of Factamfos 20-20-0-15 are comparatively low.
