Skill development training on tea cultivation and vermicompost.

Forty rural farmers, including small tea growers and commercial horticulturists from different villages of the Siang belt took part in month-long skill development training on tea cultivation and vermicompost, conducted by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), in collaboration with Siang Tea Industries Ltd at Oyan and Linka villages.

Sponsored by Ministry of DoNER and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, under its capacity building plan, the programme included scientific tea cultivation methods, such as nursery management, centering, pruning and tipping, besides fertilizers and pest management of the tea plant.

Attending the training as resource persons, Kaling Moyong of Siang Tea Industries imparted training on organic tea garden management and its efficacy.

He told the farmers that tea cultivation is the best commercial horticulture activity suitable in Arunachal Pradesh, which yield production almost round the year and gives farmers regular income.

Another resource person, Kinung Tamut taught the farmers about different methods of vermicompost, explaining its application in the crop fields.
