PAU and Bayer Organized Cotton Field Days in Villages

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Bayer Crop Science (BCS) jointly organized cotton field days in the villages Mankhera (Mansa), Sukhladhi (Bathinda), Dhrangwala (Fazilka) and Daula (Sri Muktsar Sahib) during the last week of July.

More than 200 cotton growers participated in these field days. The PAU-BCS has collaborated in a project with an objective of enhancing cotton productivity through integrated crop solutions under public private partnership mode in these key cotton growing districts.

Mr Biswajit Chowdhury, Head, Crop Management Field Crops, BCS, laid emphasis on the need for working in public-private partnership mode to help the farming community. He advocated the adoption of ‘Seed to Harvest’ technology to minimize the cost and enhance profits. He appreciated farmers for implementing it and sharing with the fellow farmers.

Dr M S Bhullar, Senior Agronomist and Principal Investigator of the project, said the project had trained 435 farmers at the cotton training workshops and more farmers would be benefitted through these field days.

Dr Vijay Kumar, Senior Entomologist, highlighted the importance of selection of right cotton variety, and safe and judicious use of pesticides with right method of application to secure good cotton production.

From PAU side, Drs Jatinder Brar, GPS Sodhi, N S Dhaliwal, Jagdish Arora, Manpreet Singh, Tarundeep Kaur, Amandeep Brar, Gurmeet Dhillon, Balkaran Singh, Sukhjinder Kaur; and from BCS side Anirudha Banerjee, Jyoti Mishra and Shekhawad addressed the farmers.
