PAU Organizes Training Course on Mushroom Cultivation

A two-day training course on “Mushroom Cultivation” has been jointly organized by the Directorate of Extension Education and the Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for the farmers and farm women. A total of 60 participants are attending the course.

Many farmers have adopted mushroom growing as subsidiary occupation after acquiring training from PAU and are getting good economic returns, he stated.

Dr Riar exhorted the trainees to venture in to this occupation by forming groups, thus, reducing the cost of production and increasing the income.

On the occasion, Dr Shammi Kapoor, Head, Department of Microbiology and Dr H.S. Sodhi, microbiology expert, also highlighted the importance of mushrooms in Punjab.
