Five Day Krushi Mahotsav Begins at Nashik

Nashik: In an attempt to bring buyers and sellers together and increase the popularity of farmers groups selling agriculture products in urban areas, the agriculture department is hosting a five-day Krushi Mahotsav from Wednesday(21st Feb 2018) at Golf Club Ground. The fair will be held from 11am to 7pm every day.

Resident deputy district collector Ramdas Khedkar said, District guardian minister Girish Mahajan was inaugurated the festival which would also focus on group farming, strengthening farmer-buyer relationship and making organic produce.

Project director of the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Nashik, which is the main organiser of the festival, Ashok Kamble said, “1,300 farmers, through 38 groups, are reaching out to the masses with organic and other kinds of vegetables and foodgrains. From Nashik 89 farmer producer companies supply 68 tonnes of vegetable to Mumbai daily. Such festivals will create awareness among citizens and farmers that will help farmers find better market, free of middle-men and we have decided to make organic food available at affordable prices during the event."

The festival would host seminars and other programmes, in which experts in the field of group farming, dairy products, onion and pomegranate will address farmers. The department will also focus on packaging and marketing of products and give inputs to farmers.
