The Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is organizing an NHM funded five-days ‘Beekeeping Training Course for Beginners’, from December 10 to 14, 2018 at PAU, Ludhiana.
Dr Pardeep K. Chhuneja, Director of the Course and Head, Department of Entomology shared that the present beekeeping training course is endeavoured at providing livelihood to the unemployed rural youth of the State thus enabling them to earn a handsome livelihood.
According to Dr Chhuneja, in this training course, practical knowledge on various aspects of beekeeping through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on practice on hive and apicultural equipment, seasonal bee husbandry practices, management of bee enemies and diseases, swarming, robbing and queenlessness problems in honey bee colonies and their remedies, colony multiplication, and honey and beeswax extraction and their post-harvest handling is being imparted.
Dr Jaspal Singh, Senior Entomologist is the Technical Coordinator of the Course. A total of 38 farmers from eight districts of Punjab are participating in the training.
