The Directorate of Extension Education, PAU is organizing a three months training course (120th batch) for young farmers on ‘Integrated Crop Production’ from 1st January, 2019 to 29th March, 2019 at Skill Development Center, PAU.
The training programme will include lectures and discussions on crop rotation principles, advantages and disadvantages of mixed cropping, recommended practices for rice cultivation, kharif oil seeds, pulses, fodders, cultivation of cotton, sugarcane, with emphasis on improved practices and varieties, cultivation of rabi pulses, fodders, minor crops, silage and hay making.
The programme will also include demonstrations and field visits. There will be sessions on small scale agro based industries highlighting machinery for cleaning and grading of fruits, storage of vegetables, machinery for rice processing, honey, chilli, turmeric, sugar and jiggery.
In addition to this there will be talks on social issues like prevelance of drug abuse in Punjab and its implications, organic farming related disease and pest management, problematic soil management, kitchen gardening, commercial fruit cultivation etc.
