DHARAMSHALA: This financial year, National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) has fixed a target of distributing 50 lakh tonne of fertilizers in market. NFL chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) Manoj Mishra said that the PSU aimed to cross a turnover of Rs 10,000 crore. Mishra was at the hill town to host the parliamentary standing committee on chemicals and fertilizers, which is on a study tour to interact with farmers of Himachal Pradesh.
In the recent years, NFL also markets other fertilizers like DAP, MoP, NPK, Bentonite Sulphur, Biofertilizers, City Compost, Seeds and Agro chemicals. The company has crossed a sale of 43 lakh tonne of fertilizers for the first time in 2017-18 which also includes its core product, Kisan Urea.
The non-urea business of NFL has almost doubled compared to the previous year. The company imported 4.50 lakh tonne fertilizers (DAP, MoP, NPK) in 2017-18, to provide all types of fertilizers to farmers under one roof.
He said, “We are running our plants at 118% capacity with lowest-ever energy consumption levels. That’s why we were able to manufacture more than 38 lakh tonne in 2017-18.”
Mishra said that NFL is planning to import 10 lakh MT of DAP, MoP, NPK this year. With around 38 lakh tonne of its own urea, the company is all set to reach a sale target of 50 lakh tonne of all fertilizers.
Seeds and Agro-chemicals will be another area where the company will be trying to seize a significant market share. NFL has its own ‘seed multiplication programme’ to support seed business. NFL has registered around 1,000 progressive seed growers in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP and MP to grow seeds under stringent quality specifications.
