KVK Samrala, under the guidance of Associate Director Dr. S. C. Sharma, organized a Kisan Goshti in adopted village Gharkhana on the occasion of World Water Day in which 25 farmers participated.
In the event, concern about the depleting water table in Punjab was discussed and farmers were made aware of the conservation of precious natural resource i.e. water. Mrs Avneet Kaur Ext. Spl.(Hort) discussed about the techniques of water saving in horticultural and vegetables crops such as drip irrigation, use of mulch etc.
Er. Karun Sharma Ext. Spl. (Agri. Engg.) discussed about the various techniques such as direct seeded rice, tensiometer and laid stress on techniques to save water in field crops.
Dr. Shivani Rana Ext. Spl (H. Sc.) gave tips regarding the judicious use of water at house hold level and discussed that how housewives can play an important role in conserving water at household level.
At the end of the goshti, all the farmers were encouraged to increase their linkage with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samrala and to participate in Kisan Mela, PAU, Ludhiana to be held on 23rd and 24th March 2018.
