To commemorate the Birthday of Bharat Ratna, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first Agriculture Minister of the country and First President of Independent India, ICAR celebrates the Agriculture Education Day on 3rd December every year across the country with full fervor and enthusiasm.
ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research ManagementAt ICAR-NAARM, the Chief Guest, Shri V. Ram Kaundinya, Director General, Federation of Seed Industry of India in his invited lecture on “New Paradigm in Indian Agriculture”, emphasized on the promotion of agricultural education right from the school education as more than 60% of the population of the country lives in rural areas. He urged the talented students to join agricultural education for the fulfillment of manpower needs in the concerned field.
ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic ResourcesAt ICAR-NBFGR a Painting & Drawing Competition (Theme: Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan for Students up to 6th standard and Swachchh Nadiyan Saksham Bharat for students of 7th to 12th standard) and Essay Writing Competitions (Theme: Global Warming and Aquatic Life for students of 8th to 12th standard) in both English & Hindi languages was organised on the occasion. In a total, around 55 student participants accompanied by 10 teachers from 9 schools of the city participated in the event.
ICAR-National Rice Research Institute, CuttackDr. H. Pathak, Director, NRRI, Cuttack inaugurated the 7th Agriculture Education Day celebrations organized in the campus of the Institute. Dr. Pathak briefed about the importance of and relevance of different disciplines of agricultural science in the institute and encouraged the students to pursue the course with great devotion and give their best to excel in the field of agricultural sciences.
Shri Pradeep Mohanty, agripreneur narrated his success story of initiating coffee plantation and profit making venture in Koraput district of Odisha.
The celebrations held various activities like debate competition on "Can Agriculture provide opportunities for building a Smart career" and quiz competition on "General Agricultural Knowledge".
On the occasion, one educational bulletin entitled “Attracting youth for Agriculture” was also released by the Chairman of the Institute.
The Science Exhibition showcased varied innovative ideas by students of different schools in the forms of models, charts, graphs and live materials on the topic “Climate Smart Agriculture”.
The celebrations registered a participation of around 150 students of class VIII to XII standard from 13 Schools and Junior Colleges around the city accompanied by teachers.
ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, HyderabadThe Agricultural Education Day organized at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad registered a total participation by 1150 students from 15 schools and colleges along with their teachers which included students of higher secondary (class 9 and 10) and intermediate (Class 11 and 12).
During the occasion, the students were briefed about the golden opportunities of careers in agricultural sciences. The students also visited the museum, crop cafeteria field demonstrations on oilseed crops and laboratories. While the students of class 11 and 12 were provided with exposure on eco-friendly methods of crop protection.
A batch 60 students of B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore also visited the institute on the occasion.
