Hyderabad: ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneshwar organized the Brainstorming Workshop on restructuring the AICRP on Home Science to AICRP on Women in Agriculture at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad from 29th to 30th April, 2019.
The Chief Guest, Dr. N.S. Rathore, DDG (Agricultural Education), ICAR, New Delhi stressed on the need for five important issues, that is, critical individual thinking, identifying the researchable issues, formulating communication strategies and bringing leadership status among farm women in line with the ICAR mandate. He emphasized on the need to transform the AICRP-Home Science into AICRP-Women in Agriculture with a holistic development integrating all the five components with collective approach addressing women in agriculture issues.
The Special Guest, Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM stressed on the need for working in collaboration with the other AICRP-Units, ICAR Centres both in Home Science and Agriculture for effective coordinated approach for reaching out to the farmwomen in an integrated way with the synergy for the all round sustainable development.
Dr. P.S. Pandey, ADG (EP&HS), ICAR, delivered a lecture on Designing AICRP on Women in Agriculture. He also provided a clear direction for moving forward with the new integrated approach of community science with agriculture and other allied disciplines for strengthening the farmwomen socially, technologically and economically.
Earlier, Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA outlined the Brainstorming Workshop on AICRP on Women in Agriculture. He stressed on the need to change the AICRP on Home Science to AICRP on Women in Agriculture.
Dr Lipi Das, Nodal Officer, AICRP along with other AICRP scientists finalized the research projects in five programme mode.
Senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities were also present during the occasion.
The workshop experts from the Community Science, Agriculture Extension, Agribusiness Management, Unit and Technical Coordinators from 13 centres of AICRP, Scientists associated with AICRP from ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar registered their participation in the deliberations and formulations of new programmes.
