Tamil Nadu: The Centre has permitted the Tamil Nadu State government to procure 4,625 tonnes of green gram from farmers.
Through the National Cooperative Marketing Federation (Nafed), the procurement will be done at Rs. 69.75 per kg against the current market price of Rs. 50-55 per kg. This procurement would take place in September and October.
According to a release issued by Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Agricultural Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Agriculture), farmers who wanted to avail themselves of the arrangement should register themselves with Regulated Markets or Farmer Producers’ Organizations along with their land documents such as “chitta” and “adangal,” besides details of their PAN and Aadhaar numbers.
