The Udupi Zilla Krishik Sangh was organise a farmers’ convention at the Sharada Mantapa here on 28th January 2018.
T.N. Prakash Kammaradi, chairman of Karnataka Agriculture Price Commission, was inaugurate the convention. Sridhamurthy K.S., scholar, was deliver the keynote address.
Many farmers from different parts of the district are participate in the convention, said Bantakal Ramakrishna Sharma, president of the sangh, while addressing presspersons here recentlyAddressing presspersons here recently.
There was three seminars related to agriculture, horticulture and dairy farming.
The topics which was discussed at the seminars include: “production techniques in horticultural crops,” “use of bio-fertilizers in agriculture,”“need for mechanisation in agriculture,” “agriculture and culture,” “dealing with diseases and pests in jasmine cultivation,” “protection of different varieties of paddy,” “health benefits of medicinal plants,” “use of technology in agriculture,” “different varieties and production of pure milk,” “challenges in dairy farming,” and “modern bee keeping.”
Experts in agriculture and horticulture was participated as resource persons in these seminars.
In the afternoon, there was an interaction programme between farmers and heads of various government departments, such as Agriculture, Revenue, Horticulture, MESCOM, and Cooperation.
Also an exhibition-cum-sale of agricultural equipment, seeds and saplings, and books on agriculture, was held at the venue.
