Training Program On “Concepts And Methods For Sustainable Food System Analysis” By CAFT

The ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is the country’s premier institution for agricultural research, education and extension. The Division of Agricultural Economics, a constituent of School of Social Sciences of IARI, was established in 1960. The mandate of the Division is to conduct research in frontier areas and serve as a center for academic excellence in postgraduate education.

About the Training Program

Food systems analysis is gaining significance globally in the context of sustainable development. “Food systems are the sum of actors and interactions along the food value chain. It includes the enabling policy environments and cultural norms around food - IFPRI”. To devise policies for developing sustainable food systems, we need to develop the expertise of the scientific community in this arena. Therefore, this year the Division is going to conduct a 21 days training program on the topic “Concepts and Methods for Sustainable Food System Analysis” from November 2-22, 2022.

The training course comprises two modules. First module will focus on the theoretical framework and various concepts of food systems. Second module will provide exposure on various methods and techniques used for food system analysis with the help of various statistical software. Participants’ Eligibility
Faculty and researchers in Agricultural Economics/ Dairy Economics / Fisheries Economics / Agricultural Extension/Agricultural Statistics and related disciplines of social sciences of ICAR-AU system including private ICAR-accredited Colleges/Universities are eligible to apply for the training program. The candidate must possess a masters’ degree in the relevant disciplines and should be working not below the rank of a scientist or assistant professor. Preference will be given to the candidates working in the area related to the theme of training and having basic knowledge of computers. Around 25 participants will be selected.

Application and Registration Fees
The participants should submit their application online using the CBP portal (http://iasri.res.in/cbp). After filling the online application, the candidate should take the print out and get it approved by the competent authority of the organization. A registration fee (non-refundable) of Rs. 1000/- per participants (Rs. 5000/- in case of candidates from private ICAR-accredited Colleges/Universities) need to be paid through online and scanned copy of online transaction details need to be uploaded along with approved application form (merged in a single pdf). The last date for uploading a complete application (through proper channel and fee payment details) at CBP portal is 30th September 2022. Selected candidates will be informed through email within a week of the last date of application.
