Telangana’s food processing Panel in Mysuru

Hyderabad: The Cabinet Sub-Committee on agro-processing units headed by Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy visited the Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysuru to study development of value-added products in Karnataka.

The committee members were welcomed by the CFTRI officials and were briefed on various methods followed to add value to agriculture and horticulture products. The members were apprised of byproducts, packaging and other aspects of food processing.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is keen on developing agro-food processing units in all Assembly segments in the State. The Chief Minister had directed the committee to study setting up of units based on the crops grown in various areas of the State. Subsequently, the CFTRI was asked to give technical support to the State government for developing agro food processing units in the State.

Pocharam said: “The team members have studied various methods followed by the CFTRI to make byproducts and store them for long period,” he said.
