Awareness Camp on the "Crop Residue Management" at Village Sanghura

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, Distt. Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organised an Awareness camp on the “Crop Residue Management” under the guidance of Dr. Manoj Sharma Associate Director, (Training) for the farmers on 21-8-2018 at village Sanghura.

Dr. Navjot Brar, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) welcomed the farmers, highlighted the activities of KVK and stressed on the importance of crop residue management.

Dr KS Sangha (Project director ATMA) and Dr. Kulbushan Sharma (Agricultural officer) graced the occasion and threw light on the issue of crop residue management and encouraged farmers to buy straw management machinery and adopt custom hiring method. They also answered to the questions of the farmers on the issue of crop residue management.

Dr Gurnaz Singh Gill Assistant Professor (Processing And Food Engg.) delivered the lecture on “in situ and ex situ practices for crop residue management” and also stressed upon the saving the environment by avoiding this hazard.

He also discussed the economics of the management techniques to convince farmers for adopting crop residue machinery. Dr Manoj Sharma highlighted the major issues of agriculture practices in Punjab and encouraged the farmers to adopt crop diversification. He also discussed the ongoing activities of KVK and how they can benefit farmers.

An interactive session was organized where experts and farmers shared their experiences on crop residue management. At the end, KVK scientists thanked and encouraged the participants to create awareness in the village and motivated for natural resource conservation.
