Pusa-Broccoli KTS 1’

Broccoli is grown on a small scale due to the scarcity of improved varieties. Therefore scientists have developed a new variety known as ‘Pusa Broccoli KTS 1’. It is a high yielding, providing 16.5 tonnes/ha in hills and 6.4 tonnes in plains. It has been developed by the IARI Regional Station, Kartrain. Plants of this variety are medium-tall (65 to 70 cm long) foliage waxy and dark green with slightly wavy margins. Head solid green with small buds and slightly raised at the centre. The main head size and weight are 350 to 450g. It is a ready 125 to 140 days after sowing and 90-105 days after transplanting. It is resistant to mild frost and snowfall.
