Importance Of Seed Treatment

Some of the diseases of crop plants are seed borne, in which the pathogens are carried either on the surface of the seed or within it. When the pathogen is external, it may be destroyed by treating the seed with a chemical.

ADVANTAGES OF SEED TREATMENT:

  1. Seed treatment improves the germination of seed.
  2. Good establishment of healthy and vigorous plants.
  3. Increase the production.
  4. Seed does not rot after sowing or plant does not die.
  5. It helps to save the expenses of disease control.
  6. It helps to control the seed borne diseases
  7. Protection of seeds in storage.
