Sungro 96, introduced by Sungro Seeds Private Limited, Dubai, is an early variety of cabbage with compact plants. Heads are balled shaped yellowish green weigh 1.0 to 1.5 kg each with a short core. Yield potential about 500 quintal per hectare. This variety grows well at temperature 150c to 250 C, thrives best on well drained deep, humus rich soil. Optimum pH 6.0 to 6.5. For obtaining high yields avoid planting cabbage year after year in the same field. Recommended seed rate per hectare for this variety is 500-600 gm. Seeds are sown on nursery beds. Seedlings are ready for transplanting within 3-4 weeks. Transplant the seedlings when they attain 5-6 leaf stage in the late afternoon. Deep the seedlings in 0.2% solution of Diathane M-45 for a few seconds before transplanting. Recommended dose of fertilisers is nitrogen 200kg, phosphorus 150kg and potash 150kg per hectare. Add borax 10-15 kg at time of land preparation. After 20 days of transplanting spray Neemark 3-5 ml per litre of water at 10 days interval. |
