PAC 401 HYOLA: new high yielding hybrid Gobi Sarson

Salient feature:

High Yield: (10-11 quintals per acre under normal conditions)
Double Zero Quality: (Low Erucic acid and low Glucosinolates)
Black Lustrous Grain with high oil content: (40%-44%)
Days of Maturity: (150-165 days)
Frost tolerant: White Rust and Alternaria tolerant. Very good for oil meal & cake by virtue of its double zero quality.

Package of practices

Sowing time: From September 20^th to October 15^th.Agro-climatic suitability: Suitable to all season (Juncea) and Gobi sarson (napus) growing areas especially where frost tolerance is essential.
Seed rate: 1.5 kgs/acre
Spacing: 25cms x 5 cms deep. (Use wheat seed drill)
Land preparation: 1 ploughing, 2 harrowings and levelling. Finely tilled soil is an advantage to all rape seed crops. Presowing irrigation is a must.
Irrigation: (1) Sowing time (2) 40-50 days from sowing (3) 100 days from sowing

Crop protection:

*1 spray of Metasyfox at 40 & 70 days from sowing to prevent Aphids.

*1 spray of Bavistin at 50 days to prevent white rust.

Harvesting:

Harvest the crop when pods (Silique) turn lemon yellow. Since all Gobi sarson is prone to shattering care should be taken. Keep the harvested produce in a heap for 7 to 10 days, on a hard clean surface. Dry the pods (Silique) properly before threshing.
