Mobile vegetable washer

A large, high-capacity, high-output mobile system has been developed for growers supplying washed potatoes to the processing industry. Made by Peal Engineering, an agriculture machinery manufacture based in Lincolnshire, UK the basic machine is suitable for processing potatoes and other vegetables at up to 30 tonnes an hour.

It comprises a continental web elevator creating a pre-soak area. Above the inclined section of the web is a canopy where recirculated water is sprayed over the potatoes or other root crop which then passes on to a brush washer with 16 rows of special brushes. Water is also sprayed over this area. All water is collected into a common tank below with a debris filter and submersible recirculation pump. Running along the length of the tank is a full-width scraper chain, which runs continuously, scraping the solids into a skip.
