Government Subsidy
for Drip Irrigation Sets
After some years of
research by various Agricultural Universities and Research institutes, it has been
confirmed that there is saving of irrigation water to the extent of 50 to 60 per cent by
drip method. There are other advantages also of drip irrigation, Drip irrigation is
specially advantageous for crops grown in less rainfall areas and for perennial crops.
Considering several advantages of drip irrigation and for making economical use of scarce
water, the Government of Maharashtra has started giving subsidy on drip sets to encourage
more and more cultivators to adopt drip irrigation so that more area can be covered with
the same quantity of water.
Special features
of the scheme:
- Crops covered - Sugarcane, cotton and
other field crops.
- Eligibility - The scheme is open to all
the farmers in the state.
- Quantum of subsidy - 50 per cent with
ceiling of Rs. 20,500/- and limit of 2 hectares per farmer.
- The scheme is fully financed by the
state Govt. and is operated in all the districts of the state.
- The scheme is implemented by Principal
Agricultural Officers (T & V), at the district level and Subdivisional Agricultural
Officer at the subdivision level.
