Pune based KSB pumps is a company with German collaboration making submersible borewell pumpsets for farmers. The company is selling its pumpsets all over India. KSB is offering two types of borewell pumps. Six inch version and the four inch version. The inches refer to the size of the borewell. 4 inch borewells provide less water than six inch borewells. Normally 4 inch borewells are used in residential areas in towns while 6 inch borewells are used for agriculture irrigation purposes. A farmer deciding to put a borewell must have atleast Rs.50, 000-60,000 either in the form of bank loan or savings. The cost of putting a borewell is in two parts. One, the cost of drilling the well. Second the cost of purchasing the borewell pump. In different parts of India different types of borewell pumps are required. In areas like the North Canara region of Karnataka, for instance, farmers use 20 stages 10 HP pumps. The average price of this pump is around Rs.25, 000-30,000.
