Financial help for construction of cold storage

National Horticultural Board, ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, 85 Institutional Area, section –18, Gurgaon 122015 (Fax 342991) has announced that they will provide financial help for construction of cold storage for storing horticultural produce which is of perishable nature. The co-operative institutions, Agricultural produce marketing committees, Boards, Agro-Industries Corporations, Farmers Organizations, etc. can avail of this financial help. The features of the scheme are as under: -

1 New Cold Storage should be of 5000 M.T. Capacity costing Rs.2 Crores at the rate of Rs.4000/- per MT or Rs.2 Crores for increasing the capacity of existing cold storage at the rate of Rs.1000/- per M.T.Proposer has to contribute 25%.
2 Term loan 50% from commercial or co-operative banks through NABARD.
3 25% subsidy from National Horticulture Board/National Co-op.Development Corporation (NCDC) limited to Rs.50 lakhs (Rs. 60 lakhs for North Eastern States).
4 The project proposal from co-operative institution should be first approved by NCDC.
5 After completing cold storage work, the application for subsidy should be sent to the National Horticulture Board.
