Cabbage hybrid - Hero

Hero: A very popular hybrid. Gives appealing fresh look. Matures in about 80 –85 days after transplanting. Heads are globe shaped, very compact, bluish green, weighs about 2.0 to 2.5 kg. each with excellent field holding ability. Average yield per hectare is 700 quintal. Very strong against diseases and pests.

This hybrid grows well at temperature 15⁰c to 25⁰ C, thrives best on well drained deep, humus rich soil. Optimum pH 6.0to 6.5. For obtaining high yields avoid planting cabbage year after year in the same field.

Recommended seed rate per hectare for hybrids is 300-350 gm. Seeds are sown on nursery beds. Seedlings are ready for transplanting within 3-4 weeks. Transplant the seedlings when they attain 5-6 leaf stage in the late afternoon. Deep the seedlings in 0.2% solution of Diathane M-45 for a few seconds before transplanting. Recommended dose of fertilisers is nitrogen 200kg, phosphorus 150kg and potash 150kg per hectare.
