The sub surface irrigation which is also called, as biwall irrigation is one of the latest methods of irrigation is one of the latest methods of irrigations. In this method the biwall laterals are buried in trenches of 15-cm depth in such a way that the laser holes in the upper most chamber of biwall are in upward direction, then the biwall is covered with soil. The other fitting of drip system are performed as usual. The experiments at Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore revealed that by adopting this subsurface drip irrigation system using biwall laterals with paired rows at 40/140 cm spacing, the saving of water was 43 cent compared to conventional furrow irrigation. |
