The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) at Karnal has recently introduced machine to milk buffaloes. According to NDRI Director Dr. B.N.Mathur, it was possible due to the tireless efforts of a team of NDRI scientists and experts of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). He further told that the machine milking was common in cows, but no attention was given to the use the machine for milking buffaloes in the country. He said that the benefit of milking machine for producing clean milk in the organized and rural sector is assuming greater significance and will be introduced soon under different dairy forming situations. The use of machine will eliminate the most common udder related diseases like mastites and ensure hygienic quality of milk, essential to avoid diseases amongst consumers. There are both the portable and fixed machines for milking the buffaloes. |
