The Central Agricultural Research Institute (CARI) to be undertaking a project of black pearl oyster production near Andaman – Nicobar Islands area, as reported. A trial was conducted in Andaman - Nicobar Islands, to know the water quality, temperature and other Climatic conditions for black pearl production, the results shows that the climatic conditions essential for black pearl production are favourable, as stated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Further the report stated that in India, as domestic market had neglected the marine trade especially pearl and oyster, hence the stock of seashore pearl is utilised by other countries fishermans. So there is a need to pay attention for full utilisation of available resources for black pearl oyster production. The black pearl production technology development is undertaken with the help of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute. Clean and pure seawater containing marine plant like`Plankton’ is useful for Black pearl production, as informed. |
