CO-2: High
yielding guinea grass
The new
variety of guinea grass viz. CO.2 has been developed by the scientists at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU),
Coimbatore. It is a high yielding guinea grass- with profuse tillering released for
commercial cultivation.
It is a
cross between CO-1 and Centenario, fodder is highly suited for multiple cuts in a year.
The fodder crop needs minimum irrigation, and it can also perform well in rainfed regions
endowed with evenly distributed rainfall. It grows tall and tillers profusely. It produces
80 to 100 tillers per clump. It has found to be free from any pests or diseases and do not
requires plant protection measures.
