Cotton yarn export
The 100
per cent contribution of -EOUs, cotton yarn exports remained robust and achieved a growth
of 11.20 per cent and 9.75 per cent in volume and value terms respectively, during the
first fourth month of "00.
However,
the average unit value realisation for the four months period dropped to Rs.119.59 per kg
from Rs.121.27 per kg recorded the previous corresponding period.
Cotton
yarn shipments for the January-April 00 period is pegged at 190.68m kgs as against
171.34m kgs clocked the previous corresponding period. And in value terms exports improved
to Rs 2,280.41 crore from Rs 2,077.77 crore achieved during January-April 99 period.
Analysis
of the export data reveal that cotton yarn exports under ceiling category struggling at
41.77m kgs during the current period as against 44.79m kgs the previous period, a negative
growth of 6.74 per cent. It may be noted that the annual ceiling under quota is 500m kgs
and the first four months utilisation is a minuscule 8.35 per cent.
In value
terms, exports under the ceiling category declined 6.72 per cent to Rs 438.62 crore from
Rs 470.22 crore. However, the unit value realisation in that category improved marginally
to Rs 105.01 per kg from Rs.104.98 per kg.
The
performance of the 100 per cent EOUs was stupendous and posted a growth of 35.68 per cent
and 36.28 per cent in volume and value terms respectively.
The total
yarn exports from these units increased to 109.49m kgs (80.70m kgs) valued at Rs 1,298.34
crore (Rs 952.67 crore). The average unit value realisation improve marginally from Rs
118.05 to Rs 118.58 per kg. |
