Horticulture Cluster-Houses have been Set Up

Haryana: To promote horticulture in the state villages, the Agriculture Department has launched Rs 500-crore Crop Cluster Development Programme (CCDP).

Under the scheme to take care of the marketing needs of farmers, sorting, grading and packaging facilities are being set up for specific horticulture crops in clusters of four to five villages.

Stating this during on-field interactions with local farmers at Kanhi, Jassia and Brahmanwas villages in the district, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Abhilaksh Likhi exhorted the farmers to adopt the scheme and get attractive income.

Likhi maintained, “Apart from sorting, grading and packaging the horticulture produce at the cluster houses, refrigerated vans will also be provided to the farmer-producer organisations to send the produce for sale in the NCR/capital area markets.”

District Horticulture Officer Jitender Mongia said that, farmers who adopt the CCDP scheme would be provided up to 90 per cent subsidy by the government.

In the current year, at Bakheta, Kansala and Humayunpur villages, cluster-houses for cultivation of bittergourd, onion and tomato have been set up for potato and now adding that in the district next year a mushroom cluster would be set up at Mokhra village.
