The Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hessaraghatta has selected six more promising varieties form a lot of more than one thousand varieties collected from all over the world. They are Angur Kalan, Coarna Rosie, Convent Large Black, Khatta Khurgan, and Queen of Vineyards and Taifi Rosovi. These varieties are especially recommended for cultivation in home gardens. In addition, institute has released the following nine hybrid varieties for commercial cultivation.
Medium vigour, seedless, medium yielder, bears well on head system, bunch medium large, loose, berries greenish white, small spherical, pulp soft., very good quality (T.S.S. 22-240B, acidity 0.5 – 0.6 per cent), late maturity, very good for raising making. It is moderately vigorous and yields 38t/ha. (T.S.S 20-210B and acidity 0.4 – 0.6 per cent). The berries are very attractive and good for table purpose. It is tolerant to powdery mildew. Medium vigour, seeded, heavy yielder; bears well on head system bunch medium large, losses; berries golden yellow, medium, oval, pulp meaty, good quality (T.S.S 18 – 200B and acidity 0.4 – 0.5 per cent). Muscat flavours very late maturity. It is vigorous and its yield potential is 33t/ha. Seedless having T.S.S 20-210B and acidity 0.6 – 0.7 per cent. The hybrid is good for juice purpose. It is vigorous with a yield of 38t/ha having uniform round berries and having small seeds (T.S.S 19-200B and acidity 0.4 – 0.6 per cent). Good for export and tolerant to anthracnose disease. Vigorous black seedless. The bunches are well filled to slightly compact, the yield potential is 28t/ha. (T.S.S 20-220B, acidity 0.6 – 0.7 per cent). This is tolerant to anthracnose disease. Moderately vigorous, greenish yellow seedless berries with a yield potential of 31t/ha. (T.S.S 18-190B and acidity from 0.5 – 0.6 per cent). It is good for table and can be an export quality. The plant is vigorous its yield potential is 40t/ha. The bunches are filled (T.S.S varies from 20 – 210B and acidity is 0.5 per cent pulp is meaty has muscat flavour and good for white desert wine. This is tolerant to anthracnose, downy mildew and powdery mildew. |
