Minister for Animal Husbandry K. Raju has said that, in 2017-18, as many as 1,000 poultry units will be set up and 5,000 by 2020-21 by Kudumbasree as part of a “chicken self-sufficiency plan”.
To Kudumbasree teams setting up poultry units, chicks would be handed over and would be taken back after 45 days, the Minister said while replying to questions in the Assembly.
In association with the Kepco, the project is being launched by the Animal Husbandry Department (AHD)
The department would take steps to expand the hatcheries and operations of Kepco, Mr. Raju informed.
To introduce more job-oriented courses in the VHSE stream, the AHD would hold discussions with the General Education Department, he told.
