Kerala to enhance coconut productivity

Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Kasaragod, is implementing the State Planning Board-funded research project in six locations in the State. The main focus is at doing experiments for optimising external inputs and management practices for enhancing productivity of coconut.

CPCRI say that systematically laid out experiments are being conducted in these locations that represent different coconut growing agro-ecological units.

The locations are Cheruthazham in Kannur, Mayyanad in Kollam, Chettikkulangara in Alappuzha, Thelliyoor in Pathanamthitta, Mookkannoor in Ernakulam, and Naduvannoor in Kozhikode.

Except this experiment ten farmers’ coconut gardens are also selected for the purpose of validation and demonstration of best management practices for crop production including soil test-based nutrient management practices.
