MUMBAI: in a single year through the crop insurance scheme, Maharashtra Farmers have received as much as Rs 4205 crores. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that, in the preceding 15 years, farmers had received Rs 4,737 crores insurance for crop damage.
Since 1999-2000, the crop insurance scheme has been in operation in Maharashtra. In the scheme as many as 82.5 lakh farmers are enrolled and from these farmers, 71.5 lakh are beneficiaries.
In Beed district, there are the biggest beneficiaries of the scheme. Beed farmers will receive Rs 892.98 as crop insurance and Latur's farmers will receive Rs 604.59 crores. From the insurance, crops spread over 49.33 lakh hectares will benefit.
