The Bihar government sanctioned a Rs 115 crore diesel subsidy to farmers for watering various Rabi crops
this year. The decision about this taken by a Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Farmers would get diesel subsidy at the rate of Rs 30 per litre with the maximum limit being capped at Rs 300
per acre for watering Rabi crops, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said. For primary Rabi wheat crop, farmers would
get diesel subsidy for watering the crop thrice, once before sowing seeds and twice afterwards. In case of
other Rabi crops, they would allowed subsidy only twice.
The sanctioned amount of Rs 115 crore was part of the earlier sanction for Rs 315 crore for Kharif crops and
alternative crop scheme. .
